Walking into a new place can feel uncomfortable—especially when you are already carrying something difficult. You may wonder who will be there, whether someone will ask you personal questions, or whether your struggles are “serious enough” for Celebrate Recovery.
Those concerns are understandable. Here is what you can expect when you visit us.
Come as You Are
You do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive. You do not need to know exactly what you will say—and you will not be expected to tell your whole story.
Celebrate Recovery is for anyone working through a hurt, habit, or hang-up. Some people come because of an addiction. Others are facing grief, anxiety, anger, family conflict, unhealthy relationships, shame, fear, or painful experiences from their past. You do not need a particular diagnosis or problem to belong here.
When You Arrive
Celebrate Recovery meets every Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Community Gospel Center in Fort Gibson.
When you arrive, someone from our team will welcome you and help you know where to go. We understand that walking through the door may be the hardest part of the evening, so you will not be expected to navigate everything by yourself.
You may meet people who have been attending for years and others who are just beginning. Everyone comes with a different story, but no one comes without a story.
What Happens During the Evening?
Our time together includes worship, prayer, and a biblical lesson or personal testimony. The teaching is based on the principles of Celebrate Recovery and the words of Jesus Christ.
You will hear honest stories about struggle, healing, and change. These are not stories from people who have lived perfect lives. They are stories from people learning how to face the truth, receive God’s grace, and take their next step toward recovery.
Newcomers will also receive information about Celebrate Recovery and have an opportunity to learn how the ministry works.
Will I Have to Share?
No. You may participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
You are welcome to introduce yourself, but you will not be pressured to explain why you came, reveal personal details, pray aloud, or make any immediate decisions. It is perfectly acceptable to listen and become familiar with the group.
Trust takes time. We respect that.
Is What I Say Confidential?
Celebrate Recovery is intended to be a safe and respectful place. Personal stories shared within the recovery setting are treated with confidentiality. We do not gossip about what others disclose, attempt to “fix” one another, or give unsolicited advice.
The goal is to create an environment where people can be honest without being shamed or judged.
What Should I Bring?
You do not need to bring anything special. Come as you are.
You may bring a Bible or notebook if you would like, but they are not required. You also do not need to prepare anything or contact us before attending.
What If I Am Nervous?
Many people are nervous on their first night. Some sit in their vehicles for a few minutes before coming inside. Some worry that they will not fit in or that everyone will somehow know why they are there.
We understand.
You will not be pressured to perform, pretend, or share more than you are ready to share. You can simply come in, listen, and take in the experience.
You Do Not Have to Face This Alone
Celebrate Recovery is not a gathering of people who have already arrived. It is a community of people learning to walk honestly with God and with one another.
Whatever brought you to this page, you are welcome to take the next step.
Join us Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Community Gospel Center in Fort Gibson. Come as you are—and feel free to listen before you share.
